About Us
Our Mission
The Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale strives to educate and inspire its audiences and singers through performance of a variety of outstanding choral music, collaboration with other arts organizations, and outreach to the community.
Our Organization
Founded in 1980, the Fargo Moorhead Chamber Chorale performs choral music of all artistic styles and musical periods. The Chamber Chorale rehearses weekly from September through June, and performs two subscription concerts, a community outreach event given to a selected audience, a collaborative performance with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, and a performance at the Fargo Park District's Classical Music Festival at Trollwood Park. In addition, the Chamber Chorale regularly performs for selected audiences in the community and the region.
The Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale has had four artistic directors: Mary Kay Geston, Alice Fasman, Jo Ann Miller and Mark Ring. Paul Nesheim became their fifth artistic director in the fall of 2010.
The Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale regularly collaborates with other musical organizations with joint concerts in both the local community and throughout the region. Organizations who have sung with the Chamber Chorale include The Lake Agassiz Girls Choir, the Red River Boy Choir, the Greater Grand Forks Master Chorale and the Fergus Falls Chamber Chorale. The Dakota Rose String Quartet has accompanied the Chamber Chorale on several occasions.
The Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale has had numerous guest conductors including; Rene Clausen, Paul Nesheim, Charlette Moe, Nicki Toliver, and Virginia Sublett. The Chamber Chorale has also been conducted by Joel Revzen and Bernard Rubenstein of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony.
The Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale has been a featured choir at the Minnesota Music Educators Convention, the convention of the North Dakota Music Educators, and the Region V convention of the American Guild of Organists. They have been nominated to serve as a Governor's Choir in North Dakota.
Now in its thirty-third season, the Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale continues to provide the Fargo-Moorhead community with the opportunity to experience fine choral music. This performance season, the Chamber Chorale will present three subscription concerts, and again join the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony in Bernard Rubenstein's farewell concert with a performance of Beethoven's Choral Fantasy. In addition, the Chamber Chorale will appear in concert beyond the local community, beginning a tradition of presenting choral programming to the region.
The singers who comprise the Fargo-Moorhead Chamber Chorale come from many walks of life. These community singers are dedicated to performing choral music with artistry and precision to enrich and enhance the lives of all who listen.
